If I lived about 4,000 miles closer I might be tempted to go for this. One of you guys should really go after it. NO wife could possibly object to having this in the livingroom!

Located roughly half-way between Mr. Ginter and I, though I think I may be a little closer! It'd look nice in my little 'museum', but not really in the budget right now!

So should this sound box swivel to play both vertical and lateral cut discs?

Adam,
I don’t think that it does—I found a video of a similar Kimball phonograph and it does not appear to do this, but perhaps I am mistaken. A Kimball machine is shown during the first half:

It seems to have the same tone arm and reproducer.
I’ll see if I can’t find anything else about this machine.

Well its nice looking for sure but obviously not the original finish although a good job it would seem. I can't imagine that it wouldn't have a pivot to the reproducer some way as it was surly meant to play Pathé and Regular records?

This is a stunning machine (particularly if you drop it on your head

), but the refinish is less than stellar. There's an obvious color difference between the inside and outside, and the plaster decorations on the feet aren't color matched to the wood at all.
I plan on travelling through Indiana this summer, but I'll pass at this price.

Folks,
It is, even if refinished, a handsome machine. Adam, yes that is a pivoting reproducer. David, that video is on my "arhhh! list".

That fellow really needs to join this forum to learn about acoustic phonographs!
Regards,
John

Looking closely at the outside finish I am not convinced the machine was refinished. I notice that the black wood filler is intact which says to me that maybe somebody seriously rubbed down the finish. The only way to find out is to ask the seller whether it is refinished or to see the machine in person.

Great video David. T
he volume control on the Kimbal is even more funny and compliated than the Edison volume control, come on, wooden slats closing from 3 diretions? Must have been totally patent driven.
