4 boxes of early 78s for $10
Replied to a local FB Marketplace ad this week selling very old 1900-1930 78 records. Seller told me they were gone. Sure enough… went to our local weekend flea market this morning and they’re sitting on a seller’s table. 4 boxes for $10. Probably at least 200 total. Amazing how fate works out!

Yeah… and it’s all pre 1930 78s… if not quite a bit older. I’m ecstatic! Best 78 haul I’ve ever found… and this stuff never turns up in quantity around here.

Wow, nice find! Wonder what the flea market vendor bought them for if he was able to sell them for $10 and make a profit.

Hard to say what she paid. She first told me 50 cents each… then I pointed out the 4 boxes of 78s and she said $10 for all. To be honest I would have went considerably more… maybe upwards of $100. Pre 1930 78s are hard to find around here and flea market sellers usually want $3-$4 apiece for them when they turn up.
She also had several large boxes of 45s from that lot. Those she can keep and hopefully make some money on.

Nice haul. I have too many 78s but would have left with those for that price. Where are you from?

Congrats! Looks like the box on the lower left contains some Edison diamond discs. Do you have a machine to play them?Jop Amberola 30 wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 11:05 am Replied to a local FB Marketplace ad this week selling very old 1900-1930 78 records. MEGA score dude! Did you get any pre-dog Victor or Columbia Climax discs? Did you get any 7 or 8 inch discs? There could’ve been some of those mixed with the 45s just sayin.

Extreme SW Missouri USA just a few miles from where the KS, OK and MO borders meet.
Don’t have an Edison DD machine and probably never will… but do have a 1929 Edison P-1 suitcase portable.

It’s actually pretty easy to get a Diamond Disc player where you’re at. Since Edison sold more to Midwest folks than say the east coast which seems to have more Victor machines. I’m in Nebraska I see Diamond disc machines especially The C-250/19 for sale more online than any other machine other than off brands. You’ll struggle more finding a Victor credenza than you will a C-250. (Basing this off my own experience)Jop Amberola 30 wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 4:58 am Extreme SW Missouri USA just a few miles from where the KS, OK and MO borders meet.
