Union wishlist

Post by Phono-Phan »

Well, this year my only wish list item is a nice Victor or Edison shipping crate with the embossed printing on it. I am getting further along on building a Model A Ford C-Cab body delivery vehicle. It will look similar to the one pictured but logoed as a phonograph delivery vehicle. I am planning on bringing down several boxes of parts, records, and a few nice machines for sale. This will be my 32nd year going to the Union show. It is almost like a family re-union, but much more fun.

Slightly off topic, but I guess you could say it's my wishlist....does anyone know if there will be an open invitation to San Fillipo's mansion this year?

One other long shot part I am looking for is the spring barrel end support bracket for the early Victor MS motor.

I am surprised that this post didn't get more responses for the Union show wish list items. Many dealers use this forum and might just have what you are looking for that they wouldn't normally bring to the show.
Also, does anyone know an answer for the post in this thread regarding the Jasper open house Saturday night? I haven't seen it mentioned by APS either.

The APS has not been officially informed, but as far as I know, Jasper's home will be open on Saturday night. There is a $20 donation asked for the foundation that maintains the collection. If you've never been there, it's the best $20 you'll spend at the show. Imagine Disney World for antique mechanical music. :)

Also - I've noticed comparatively few hits on the notice of "Free Presentations at the Union Show" under the "Society News" section of this forum. These presentations should be of interest to collectors; APS members or non-members alike. All are welcome. :)

Everyone should see Jasper's collection at least once. It IS the best $20 you'll ever spend. After spending two days at Union, I felt pretty jaded and had to be convinced to see Jasper's place - I'm glad I went. Nothing compares to it. Nothing can prepare you for it. Wow! It is more than a phonograph museum - the guy has a huge mansion complete with an auditoreum and Wurlitzer pipe organ, a merry-go-round, multiple fairground organs, and a working steam locomotive that circles the estate. (I understand the neighbors were not amused by the locomotive!). Oh, did I mention Orchestrions galore?

I will chime in on encouraging everybody who can to go to Sanfilippo's. It is jaw dropping amazing!

I called Mike Donnely and he mentioned that Jasper will be having the open house
Saturday night. If you have never been there, it is worth the trip just to see his extensive collections.

Okay - I'll return to the original topic of this thread! :) I'm looking for:

1) Aretino turntable with the 3" spindle intact.

2) Common 30" all-brass horn for a cylinder machine, with a beaded seam between the body and bell section, and a soldered-on tab hanger. It doesn't need to be perfect, but I don't want significant creases, perforations, or rust.

Thanks! :)
