Is this a VV 8-30 ( Heading for the Dump)

This machine is for sale an hours drive from my house. Ad says Victor Credenza, not working as is over wound. Would make good T.V. or liquor cabinet. Asking price $200.00.
It looks to me like it has been refinished on the outside. What do you guys think it is worth?

Looks like a quite early 4 door Credenza, note the early lid decal. Probably refinished and lacking the original door knobs, but if there isn't any other damage than the motor not working it seems a good price - very good if it has the brass reproducer.

"Overwound" suggests that something is gummed or jammed - but it often means Broken Spring.

With the turntable centred like that, it would say "Credenza" on the ID tag. Those knobs are not all that difficult to replace with authentic ones but the clincher for me is the tragedy of having it made into a TV cabinet. For $200, it's worth the save. The finish doesn't look like it has been messed with all that much; apart from the one foot I can see which appears to have been sanded. I have seen 4-door Credenzas with the early centred turntable with brass reproducers so I'd say, stop wasting time talking to us and go for it LOL. Good luck.

I just paid more than that for a Credenza that's been in a barn for twenty years and is missing the arm and sound-box...

This machine at least looks presentable & complete; motor repairs are not that difficult.

It's a Canadian version of the Credenza, not necessarily "early". Certainly a nice machine if you don't mind the fact that it's been refinished!

I would think well worth $200, and you might even be able to talk them down a bit given that it is not currently working. If you are good with furniture work, or have someone in your area who is, a multitone lacquer respray is quite possible and with a finish toward the satin end to cut the gloss can be hard to distinguish from the original finish. (The color is in the lacquer on these, short circuiting worries about stains and such.) I had that done on mine, which had been broiling in the Florida sun in an abandoned storage unit for decades, had flower pot black rings on the top, termite damage to the bottom plate, etc., and it is now gorgeous. It does take someone with talent to get the pattern right, though. And if you are not a purist, the refinish on this one does not look bad.
