A Lucky Day With Sally Ann

Since a post was made in our Ebay/CL section....I decided to post the before and after pics of the newly found Victor type A. As some member's have assumed, it really was a case of "right place right time" plain and simple. I do not work for the SA and there was no conspiracy with the purchase.
The fact is, it could have happened to anyone of us.
Now for the machine.......
As we already know, the horn is clearly toast. The elbow was long gone and in fact, the previous owner tried to fabricate something out of cardboard tubing as a replacement.
The real concern was the "motor". "not working" was in the heading. Therefore, what was "not working"was a mystery.

Yesterday this question was answered. All three governor springs are broken (springs already ordered). The rest of the motor is in remarkable condition.
As luck would have it.....I have two spare horns. Black or B&B. I also have a spare screw for the cast support arm(the only other part missing).
Since the original horn was all black, I decided to do a period upgrade and go with a B&B horn.

The next step was to give the machine a "light" cleaning and that's it. Now I can just enjoy looking at it.
An interesting discovery was made while cleaning. It would seem that a previous owner would stick needles on a certain spot on the board. It's like they lined them up ready to use...???.

A really nice machine. What a lucky day you had. I am glad that it wasn't bought by one of the usual suspects who would take it apart and sell it as parts.

I'm blushing. I wasn't going to post as I did not want to appear bragging. However, a couple members thought sharing was a good idea.
I actually asked if there was any info with the machine...the reply I received was.... "this was found in a room in our warehouse. It had been in there for many years".
So, I guess they were in no hurry to sell it until now..... .
