When you can't attend Union...

Post by HisMastersVoice »

...bring Union to you!

I was unfortunately not able to make the show this weekend, due to a conflicting event. Motor Muster, which is the annual car show at The Henry Ford Museum's Greenfield Village, was also this past weekend and I had already registered several cars to attend when I found out Union was the same weekend. So, I decided to bring my HMV 102 along to the show, and spent quite a bit of time playing Glenn Miller 78s in the shade next to the 1940 Dodge. I think the phonograph attracted more visitors than the car!

Oddly enough, the '37 De Soto that was stationed next to me was owned by a phonograph collector who was also disappointed about missing Union this year. My other neighbor who owned the '40 Packard, was so enamored with the HMV that she took my info so I could help find her one. At least there weren't any complaints about the music :D

Hopefully next year both of my favorite events aren't on the same weekend... :?

Hopefully they're not the same weekend next year but if they are, you need to bring the Dodge to Union! :D

No only does the car have classic style, but the owner even coordinated his sneakers to match his picnic blanket!

Hmm, well it's a 5.5 hour drive to Union in a normal car, I think it would take 8 in the Dodge at 55 mph!

Valid point... Well just hope they are not on the same weekend then. Union was enjoyable as usual. I socialized with a lot of friends, took delivery on some items purchased via "Yankee Trader" and supplemented those purchases with lots of good cylinders purchased from JerryB and a beautiful Triumph D with wood grained cygnet purchased from Gregg C. :D

Actually it would have been much cheaper for me to attend the car event.

FWIW, the date of the Union Show is never in doubt, it's held the second full weekend in June each year.

I had wondered who got the Triumph. It was sitting there quite a while and then POOF-- it was gone.

It is beautiful. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Looks like Motor Muster was fun.

It is great to have phonographs out and public events like this. That is the way new people will catch our collecting "bug."

Nice Dodge.
