It must be pretty good. If it was really poor or slow, there would be plenty of pictures.

Give it a bit of time. The show is still going. I'm sure when some people get home they will post some pics of the show and the amazing phonographs there.

It was a very good show! Lots of fairly rare
stuff. There was an Edison class M machine
with a gang of listening tubes, (not running)
but just sitting there looking really great.

Then there was the Multiphone (as shown in
the book "From Tinfoil to Stereo" 2nd edition
page 117) That machine was really in my opinion the star of the show! It sounds nice too, it was equipped with (24) Edison Blue
Amberol cylinders, and it was all in perfect
working condition. That ferris wheel selector
mechanism is a real work of art to watch
as it works.

Also wanted to thank everyone who purchased
blanks from me while I was there on Saturday!

There for a while on Saturday afternoon,
Shawn Borri and I were both walking around
selling our records and blanks and giving
live demonstrations of them on various machines. We were like peanut vendors at
a ball game. "Blanks, get your blanks here!"

Then, all too soon, 5 pm rolled around
and everyone got booted out.

I have some pics. I also purchased an Edison studio recording head. Like all of them it was missing the diaphragm and stylus. but they were meant for those parts to be Changed. I think this recorder was also used for Diamond Disc masters. I have it working fairly well, and It will take much practice to learn to Use. It was nice to see Chuck at the show there was blanks for everyone. I picked up an Edison factory (not for home use) Recorder, and a Columbia AG Grand ($200.00 It needs a mandrel and bottom Bedplate. It has a complete motor, and the case is in fairly good condition (no lid). J.P.A is rebuilding the carriage for it, like most, it was crumbling . It will be used to record concert cylinders.

Diaphragm and cutting stylus installed in Studio recorder. There is concentric rings on the body to line up different size diaphragms It looks like about 4 different sizes were used from almost the whole size to smaller than a home diaphragm.

Studio Edison recorder, now working on the Triumph. I have much to learn, but I have it recording prettly clearly.

The show was Great! I took my camera, but was so busy visiting and running around looking thru parts and records, I really forgot about taking pictures.

I did manage to take pictures of three rare machines:

Shawn, That Edison recorder is extraordinary! One wonders how that made it's way out of the studios! I find the commercial equipment fascinating: that is to say the goodies that the public never saw. This is certainly a find.

Very interested in that Studio recorder. How do you know it is Edison (brand)? I assume it has an advance ball to set depth of cut. I don't think it would have been on a pivot, using weight alone to provide pressure for cutting. I think it would have been on a fixed mount. As far as I know, later Edison recorders used viscous gaskets (as opposed to rubber) to improve the sound and sensitivity of its recording process. Viscous material has a very short lifespan, as it is a semi-liquid, like, and possibly very similar to "composition" used for traditional printer rollers for letterpress printing. A mixture of treacle (molasses) and hide glue crystals, cooked then formed in molds.
