I would like to thank Doug for helping me complete my search for all the records I have spent years looking for. Here's the latest one in MINT unplayed condition. I don't think its ever had a needle on it.

Ah, OK. I hope someday to find a copy of LUNF on paper label, too. For the time being, I'll make do with the cylinder! So, does the paper label copy sound better than the etched label issue?

Hi Sean,
I haven't played it and doubt I ever will. I get nervous with such a mint record. It would be my luck for the needle to decide its done and ruin the record. I have a Greetings the same way, I'm afraid to play it also. I'm sure it would sound better than the Etched label as most do. That record completed the whole set for me. The long and short versions on cylinder and the Etched label. Good luck.

Congrats on finding a nice pressing of LUNF. I can well understand not risking playing this on a period machine. You really might consider in investing in a nice modern turntable for creating a back-up copy. With a 3.7 mil stylus and about 5 grams of tracking force, the Diamond Disc would be at minimal risk of injury. I use a modified turntable from Esoteric Sound to play everything from vinyl to 78s to Pathés to Diamond Discs and can enjoy the rarer discs electronically while making back-up copies (in case I develop a case of "butter fingers"). End of advertisement. Anyway, again congratulations and enjoy!

You're very welcome, Ronnie. I had enjoyed owning the record for many years and it seemed like the time was right for someone else to own it and care for it. You expressed sincere interest in finding the record and that's really what inspired me to let it go. I doubt I will ever find another copy of it on paper label - especially one that nice. Enjoy.

I had never thought of that. Where do you get the stylus?

Both KAB and Kurt Nauck sell everything you'd need for electric playback. I play almost all of my best records electrically, especially my dealer stock electric DDs, which I prize. You can get great results listening to them that way!

What Sean said. I brought all of my stuff thru Kurt Nauck. You cannot imagine the improvement in sound by using the right size stylus to fit the different size grooves of yesteryear.
