Need help with reassembly of Victrola Model VIA
I have a Victrola Modlel VIA (internal horn) that I bought in a terribly dilapidated state. I am sure that there are many of you much more familiar with these machines than I, but here goes. The top molding is like a picture frame. The motor board is secured to the "picture frame" via four corner bolts. when I got the machine, the top molding (i.e. the picture frame) was off. And here is my question: How is it attached to the sides of the box? It was not screwed on as with some other models. I found the remains of some nails--no nail heads--sticking up from the top edges of the box. I pulled them out; I think there were only one or two left. Was that how the top molding of a Model VI was attached to the bottom? I could drive some nails into the edges of the sides and then tap the top molding down, but this does not seem very secure to me. So I think I must be missing something. Any help would of course be appreciated. Thanks in advance. By the way, I do understand how the bottom molding was attached to the box: by three screws. That's quite clear. The top, on the other hand has me confused.

From what I can see is that the top molding was glued and nailed to the side of of the case. Make sure the miter joints fit tight with no gaps.
