Thank you all for the sympathy and constructive comments.

The jinx was broken today, when an album of four Louis Armstrong records arrived IN TACT via the USPS (I was a bit to hard on them).

I have just listened to "West End Blues" on the Silvertone portable, and am looking forward to playing in on the Brunswick Seville Panatrope tomorrow!
