You're welcome. Most important is the preparation (cleaning, sanding. filling) of the surface before priming and painting. Whoever paints the bedplate should take pains to plug the threaded screw holes to block paint from clogging the threads. The old threads are not the same as current standards and you will not find taps at the hardware store to clear the clogged theads.
Thanks again for your advice, I'm glad I revisited this post as I missed your reply. I was wondering about the surface and whether the bare metal would be smooth, though
you have clarified, and I guess it depends whether over time it has been knocked around a bit, either way, it may require sanding and filling. Also in relation to the
decals (transfers) of the Edison signature, are there suppliers of good quality products? I have seen a US supplier and one from South America. Ade :)
