Having just purchased a nice Victor Royal from one of the members I'm
now interested in acquiring some 7" records that would be appropriate to play
on that machine. I'd like to get maybe a dozen or so to start out.
I prefer instrumental selections but would be open to others.
I know these early records can be expensive but I'll gladly pay a fair price to help get my collection started.
PM me if you have any you could part with.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: WANTED: 7" records for early Victor
Dave, I started collecting 7" records for the same reason. I bought a little Zonophone "Parlor" model (http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... =2&t=14726) whose motor isn't powerful enough to play a 10" record. As you know, those early 7" records are not cheap. I have seen eBay prices for the earliest Victors run typically from $50-100 and sometimes much higher, depending on label design, title and condition. I am also bit hesitant to wear out such rare and valuable records on an admittedly crude machine.
A cheaper solution to demo your machine is buying Emerson and Little Wonder records. They are common, cost much less and usually sound a lot better than the earliest disks.

Emerson records are great, I have a bunch of them for my Victor R. Little Wonders are ok, but the titles are usually less than desirable. For what it's worth, your R should have no problem playing 10" discs as well, I use mine all of the time to play military band records out on the porch since its so small and easy to move around.VintageTechnologies wrote: A cheaper solution to demo your machine is buying Emerson and Little Wonder records. Of course price will also depend if you want pre-dog labels "Improved" or early dog labels, etc.... Early dog 7" records can be found inexpensively on Ebay. Price will also depend on artist and title.
