Schlick was an advanced collector from way back. I expect the auction will be a very big deal to other advanced collectors. I am sure newbies will be impressed, but probably not as much as those who have advanced knowledge of such things.perrywash wrote:So, very much a newbie. Is this auction a big deal? Or not so much? Is it going to flood the market with everything everyone's ever wanted?

Re: Schlick Auction
That sounds pretty cheap for an Idelia.

Re: Schlick Auction
$13,000 IS cheap for an Idelia, which I thought were in the $25,000+ range...

Re: Schlick Auction
Are there any pictures of the Idealia? Was it complete? What was the condition especially the oxidized metal parts? Did it have all original parts including a wood horn? The price mentioned is about half of what it is worth for a complete unit with a wood horn.

Re: Schlick Auction
Well with tax and 15 percent buyers premium the price would be north of $15k but still I would have expected it to sell for double that. I saw it at Union. It appeared to be all original with nice wood cygnet. The cygnet had decals at a 90 degree angle from what you normally see and they were on the side of the horn but it definitely came that way. Finish was dry but generally in very good original, uncleaned condition. The O reproducer was probably replaced at some point as it was not oxidized. I bet the purchaser is happy.Phonofreak wrote:Are there any pictures of the Idealia? Was it complete? What was the condition especially the oxidized metal parts? Re: Schlick Auction
That is incorrect, the Idelia didn't sell for $13,000.00. It actually sold for $11,000.00. You can see the pictures and selling price at the following link.

Oh! How I wish that I had gone!
Some real bargains at that sale. unfortunately, I 'm stuck here fighting with the insurance company over the tornado damage. :
