Orthophonic BackBrackets for Portables / Tabletops

Post by Victrolacollector »

I see the two sizes of Orthophonic back brackets for the full size machines, but nothing for the portable or even small table top models VV 1-70.

I do not need one now, but if one should break, it would be nice to have a new one available to replace it. Has anyone thought of making these other types of back brackets?

This wouldn't be a bad idea, I hear the weak point with the ortho portables is the back bracket and most of the ones I've ever seen are broken.

At Union Ron Sitko was displaying two different small Orthophonic era overhang supports. One was for the very skinny arm used on the VV 1-70, which will also fit the portable VV 2-60. The other appears to be correct for the Orthophonic 2-55, 2-65 portables and the VV 7-11 combination. I don't have the exact prices of these parts to hand, but recall having the impression that they were extremely reasonable.

I recently purchased a back bracket for a VV 2-60 from Ron. It fit perfectly.
As for the 1-70 back bracket, I have one of those if anyone should need one.
