Brunswick Panatrope Needles...100 Special Needles...

Post by RAK402 »

I just purchased a sealed package of these to place inside of the Cortez when it arrives.

The writing on the package states "When used on the Panatrope each needle plays 5 to 7 records."

I intend to carefully open the package to look at the needles, but I am assuming that there is nothing special with these that would allow them to play more than one side of one record without damaging the record.

Is this correct?

The price on the package is a whopping 30 cents (I am trying to figure out what that would equate to in current dollars).

There are several inflation calculators on the web. This is the one I generally use:
http://www.westegg.com/inflation/

According to that site, a 30 cent purchase in 1928 is about equal to $4.03 in today's dollars.

Thank you!

So needles (the ones I currently purchase) are about $4.00 per 100, meaning I am paying about the same amount as one would have in the 20's.

Very cool!
