VV-XVIII on eBay...or something

Post by Cody K »

Jeepers, somehow this listing doesn't quite pass the smell test:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RCA-victrola-19 ... 3a94a37d53

Contacted the (zero-feedback) seller asking for clarification on what exactly he's selling. No answer of course. How do people get away with monkeyshines like this? Or do they? What do they expect to accomplish?

Exactly, Jerry -- and both pictures seem to have come from other sites online. I guess this is just some weird form of trolling?

I contacted this seller to see which one was for sale. It was originally started at .99 or buy it now for $600. I thought that was a deal for an XVIII as the main picture shows but then I looked at the only other picture. I asked for the info off the data plate and he told me he couldn't find the plate. He also said he wouldn't hold it and wanted it gone ASAP for cash, no check.

This seller also has ZERO feedback. Something definitely smells bad with this one. I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up.

I've contacted him twice now (once when the listing appeared and then earlier today) trying to get some info and no response either time. I smell rotting fish baking in the sun on this one.

picture of the 18 was swiped from this website. I suspect the seller has the other machine (VV-X), not the 18. (i did not search for the other picture of the 10, so not sure if it's swiped as well)

Whichever one it was (if either at all), it sold for $79.00…. :|
