Yes I did see that they had one there, but it has been restored, and looks refinished. Moreover, I would prefer to buy from a private dealer, if possible.

This is not an attempt to sell my Victor VI, as I already have a customer for it. I've sold about 10 of these in the last year or so and this one took the longest to sell, about a week.

But I'm curious, what's a "private dealer" in your mind? A collector who occasionally sells? A dealer who doesn't make any effort to sell?

The reason I ask is that it seems to me that all of us are "private dealers". I work alone, have no employees, no other business address than my home, and maintain my collection & inventory at home. Except for my website, it doesn't get much more private than that.

Virtually every dealer I know operates the same way, including a few clock and music box dealers that maintain inventories valued in the multi-millions. Most of my inventory was purchased from such dealers, long experience having taught me that quality, like water, tends to seek it's own level. Thus, when I want to add a high-quality item to my inventory or collection, I turn to the dealer who I know and will automatically give me the confidence that the item will be perfect, and he in turn knows that I expect such standards. My biggest disappointments have always come from individual sellers, who frequently have no clue, or pretend not to know, of the defects of what they are selling.

And, despite rumors to the contrary, I don't bite!

I personally would rather buy a piece that has already been cleaned, greased, and checked over. Can't go wrong buying from Raphael, except he want let me borrow his Hexaphone!

HI, Raphael, please feel free to contact me anytime, if you end up coming across an mint, original finish, victor VI, with the original spear tip horn. I am definitely open to doing business with you. By the looks of your website, I just assumed that you had an actually store in Florida. (not out of your home) And in my experience people who have stores tend to have a much higher markup than people selling privately. The bottom line, is that I would like to buy one for a fair price.

Hi Raphael,

I'm curious, with a large sample size of 10 sold in the last year, what percentage of those sold were sent out of the US? Are Credenza's and Victor VI's still an export market?

About half went abroad, to Europe, China, Taiwan, Australia, etc. I don’t deal in Credenzas (too big and heavy) so have no experience with them.
