WANTED: Carter Family 78s

Post by banjo_picker »

I would like to get some Carter Family records in decent playable condition. I prefer the Victor label, but I would would be interested in anything that is non-vinyl.

I am not a collector looking for rare or valuable stuff, I just want to listen to them. So if you've got some sitting around that haven't been out of the box in years, please think about passing them on to a guy who will love them. :) I will pay a fair price.

Thanks!

Check eBay. These show up with some regularity.

I've gotten a couple from ebay, but am looking for more. At any given time there are about 10 records on ebay with starting prices of 20 bucks or more for one record. That seems crazy! There is an occasional good deal on there though. I am also checking craigslist.

Hey James. I checked out your ad and I do appreciate the offer, but I am mainly looking for the original Carter Family (Sara, Maybelle, and A.P.) from the late 20s and 30s. I should have put that in the original ad. Looks like your stuff is from the family reunion in the 50s. Thanks anyway!

I have river of Jordan and keep on the sunny side, it's worn but it plays loud and clear with very little surface noise on my edison c-250 with adapter. I also have a a couple records done by other people like blue ridge highballers, Clayton Mcmichen, Johnson brothers, georgia yellow hammers and some Jimmie Rogers. I would be interested in a trade for a common dance record or from very little money.
