I recovered a muddy Victrola IX that was submerged under 5 feet of river water during Hurricane Irene. After removing all metal parts, I had a swollen and warped cabinet left over. I will add video of this, but here is an artistic screen capture, mid-flight. Its parts will keep other machines playing for generations to come.
The poor VV-IX. I own a VV-IX but if it came down to it not sure if I would keep the VV-IX or the VV 1-70. The VV-IX is a great machine with classic well built cabinet and even has the 12" turntable. While the VV 1-70 is rarer and has attractive Art Deco look and reminiscence of the "Orthophonic age".
