Edison Diamond Disc reproducer box

Post by edisonplayer »

Yesterday at the antique center in my town of Owego,NY I found an Edison Diamond Disc reproducer box. It's black, and has a notice which says"Edison Diamond reproducer. It has a patent date of 1913.I got it for $10.They had an old light bulb in it,and they thought it was a box for the bulb.I told them that it was a box for an Edison Diamond Disc reproducer.I also told a friend of mine what it was.I can use the box to put the reproducer in that I want Tim Fabrizio to put a new diamond stylus in .He can bring it up to Tim in that box.Was $10 a great deal for this box?I've seen them on EBay.The box is black and says"Edison"on the lid. It's lined with felt.edisonplayer

If it is in overall good condition (good hinge, good fabric covering), it is certainly worth more than $10. I would be almost hesitant to entrust it to the tender mercies of the US mail system.

There's one on EBay right now that has a starting bid of $34.95.It doesn't have the purple felt lining inside, and it's in excellent shape.I must say that I did well for my $10! :D edisonplayer

One sold on eBay not too long ago for around $50. I had maxed out at $45 and it went a little north of that. Good score!

One of the things I look for is the condition of the sticker on the bottom of the box. Usually, it is badly damaged with most of the text unreadable. If yours has a complete sticker with readable text, you got a good one, certainly worth more than $10. Congratulations! Cliff
