I was watching an old John Wayne movie (Flying Tigers) and the "Duke" was dancing to a record being played on what looked like a Victor V. The scene had an Oriental gentleman winding and setting the needle adding ambience to the dinner date while John and his costar floated across the floor

I did not see that one but was watching "Ball of Fire" with Gary Cooper and there's definitely a Vic V in there. There's one scene where it gets picked up rather roughly, and begins to play the record perfectly. It's a good thing those came with anti-skating tone arms
