Thanks. I didn't say that I was a particular fan of Hawaiian music, I only think it is part of the history as much as those dreadful "traditional" songs. Even Charlie Hummel complained that this giant wax cylinder of his contained of all things "The old oaken bucket". It seems Edison was specifically fond of either of these styles. Most of my Diamond Discs are either things like "Mother Machree" or Hawaiian music. And again, having the choice between those I prefer the Hawaiiangemering wrote:Andreas,

Curt, I hate to be rude. However, I have to ask.....Curt A wrote:What's wrong with Hawaiian music????
Just this:
A he pua ‘oe a he lei ho‘i
A he lei ho‘ohihi na‘u
Which means:
You are a blossom, a garland indeed
A garland I greatly admire
Oh no, - must - stop - typing. - Slow - down - monkey mind.
- Whoa, that was close, I'm OK. I'm OK. Back on track now.
Curt, please reconsider those words, A he pua ‘oe a he lei ho‘i A he lei ho‘ohihi na‘u, that's poetry man, so beautiful, beautiful.
James.

OK, we have gone from a discussion from a Victor I cabinet to Hawaiian music. I for one, likes Hawaiian music. I was stationed in Hawaii when I was in the Navy. I'll start a thread in the music section, and we can discuss Hawaiian music.

I personally saw the cabinet in question. It is without a doubt made by machine. I for one believe it could be a prototype by Victor. Who knows what they did back then.
