Good songs, Paal. Also, here's a link to the Edison DD rendition of Jones and Hare singing "As a porcupine pines for his pork..." (51535-R).

Rocky,
Yes, all these are very good songs. Entertaining too.
I listened to the DD rendition, and it's equally good to the Victor version. But I tend to like their songs with a simple piano accompaniment by Dave Kaplan better than the songs where they are backed by an orchestra.
Paal.

Here's Jones and Hare on Cameo 623, recorded 28 October 1924:
'Too tired' (matrix 1192-A)
'How do you do' (matrix 1193-B)
Transferred at 78.7 rpm. Enjoy!

Thanks for the two songs. Jones and Hare do a good job on "Too tired." There are some fantastic dance band renditions of this song, most notably Polla's Clover Gardens Orchestra's Edison DD (one of the best '20s dance recordings ever), Bob Haring's Cameo, and Jan Garber's Victor.Viva-Tonal wrote:Here's Jones and Hare on Cameo 623, recorded 28 October 1924:

On other renditions of "How do you do?," the vocalists mention the record label. On the Edison DD, Jones and Hare sing "How do you do, Edison fans,...?"; on Victor, Murray and Smalle sing "How do you do, Victrola fans,...?"; and likewise on Brunswick. I note that there is no mention of "Cameo fans" on this recording. Interesting!

It's likely Jones and Hare were aware that these sides would not be released only on Cameo. From what I spotted over on 78discography.com, both of these sides appear on Lincoln 2272, credited to the Happiness Boys, and 'Too tired' is coupled with Lucille Hegamin's 'Hard hearted Hannah' on Tremont 0517. Who knows where else they may have been issued?EdisonSquirrel wrote: I note that there is no mention of "Cameo fans" on this recording. Interesting!
