Beautiful Pattern on Amberola 1-B Lid

Hello,
While spending some time in Victoria B.C. this August I had the oppourtunity to visit a friend and Forum member Russ Ridley. He has a fantastic collection of machines but I was really taken with one of his Amberola 1-Bs. Russ found the machine advertised in a rural prairie auction. The auction pictures were poor in fact it looked to be a mahogany machine that had been stripped and left a light color. He phoned the auctioneer to confirm what it was made of and the fellow swore that it was not mahogany but actually oak. Russ took a gamble and won the machine. He had it shipped to his house and when he opened the crate the first thing he saw was the fabulous pattern on the lid. It turned out that the auctioneer was wrong. It was not oak but Circassian Walnut. Have a look at the pictures. It really is a beautiful machine! I couldn't get a full length camera shot as he had a couch in the way.

I knew what it was as soon as I saw the picture even before I read the description.

That machine is beautiful,saw it in the flesh..it sticks out like a sore thumb.hi pete, mark from vic bc here.
