Good source for Victor Scroll Records?????

Post by Victrolacollector »

I have scoured the antique shops in Northwest Indiana, and do not find very many pre-1930 records at all (just alot of Columbia, Victor and Capital etc. from the 1940's and 1950's).

I really like the Victor Scroll label orthophonic recordings. I find that ebay is outrageous, and after spending $10-20.00 for a good record, it arrives broken in a envelope.

So where would a good place be to find these records?

Try reputable 78 dealers, both online and via paper. Auction remainders, etc. Scroll records are so common generally, if not in your community. Get out of antique stores (I have little luck in them either) and check out flea markets, charity shops, library sales and so on.

Check Tom Hawthorn's auctions. He has his own auction and sells on ebay and is very reasonable. He knows how to pack and a great guy to deal with.I believe he goes by Hawthorn's Antique Audio.

Another excellent show for records and live jazz is the Bixfest, held in Racine, WI in March (dates vary).
