OT: Spring Motor for a Movie Camera?

Post by CDBPDX »

Found this weird spring motor in with a box of phonograph motors. Couldn't figure out what kind of phonograph would use a motor like this. Finally, curiosity got the better of me and I went to the hardware store and got a couple nuts for the winding stem and wound it up. Now I think it's an old movie camera motor. Any other guesses?

That's a movie camera motor. Taking a wild guess, I'd say from a Bolex L8 8mm pocket camera.
