Victrola XVI L door record album boxes
Check out my new purchase. Does anyone make replacement gold letters for the record boxes? I am missing a few.

Re: Victrola XVI L door record album boxes
I recently got a Victor l-door (hoping to get some pics on the forum soon) and want to find some albums/boxes to stuff the cabinet with but don't know which would be correct for the model? Mine is a mahogany type C.

Tom, Mine is a model B. I'm not sure what type came in a model C.

Wow! That is a stunning machine, much more so than my mahogany one. And you have all the correct record boxes. I'm envious.Bob wrote:Check out my new purchase. Does anyone make replacement gold letters for the record boxes? I am missing a few.

Bob,
Your machine is stunning. Very nice. Those record boxes are HARD to come by. I looked for over a year before I found mine and they are not a complete matching set, just a complete set. I too am looking for letters. I was told that a scrap booking store would have the gold stick on letters in a similar font and size. I have yet to go to the scrap booking store at the local mall, but I intend to do so soon. Maybe one near you would be of some help. I plan to take one of my albums with me when I go to match the size and font.
Good Luck,
Matt

I have the same machine as yours and its boxes are exactly the same as those Bob posted above if that helps.Tpapp54321 wrote:I recently got a Victor l-door (hoping to get some pics on the forum soon) and want to find some albums/boxes to stuff the cabinet with but don't know which would be correct for the model? Re: Victrola XVI L door record album boxes
Tpapp54321,
I could be wrong, but I think the C uses the record books with 15, 16, or 17 pages per book. I think the 15 page books are the right ones, but the 16 page books fit snugly in the storage slots. Orthosean will know the correct answer, I think. He also had some of the books for sale at one time. I restored a C earlier this year for a neighbor and I am pretty sure the books go with that machine.
Good luck,
Matt

Thanks,I always wanted an oak L door and finally found a nice one with the boxes. Picked it up pre arranged at the Wayne show. Good idea on the scrap book store. I will check them out.

The "box" type albums are known as the VTLA albums, I believe.Tpapp54321 wrote:I recently got a Victor l-door (hoping to get some pics on the forum soon) and want to find some albums/boxes to stuff the cabinet with but don't know which would be correct for the model? Mine is a mahogany type C.

I have a mahogany L-door from 1909, no frieze below the lid, and the suffix on the serial plate is "C" re-struck over "B".
I think 1909 and the C-series as probably a transitional model as far as change-over from the VTLA box-folders and the later "open" album. VTM probably used-up the stock of box folders on-hand.

Here is the tag on mine. Is the model B just after the VTLA?
