Amberola 1-A, Serial #2 "Old #2" UPDATE: LID FINISHED!

It has been a few weeks, and here is a new post. :) The lid has been refinished, inside and out. Original decal has been retained, but left un-retouched.

What remains? Getting that beautiful lyre grille re-assembled and refinished. Currently having EXTREME DIFFICULTY finding a woodworker to create the small piece of ovular trim missing from the surround. Le Sigh.

Do realize that the top had LOTS of deep scratches, scoring, and chips of wood missing from edges of lid top. WOOD IS ORIGINAL, and I did NOT re-veneer it! See, you CAN save old wood!

Remember that crocodile finish? All the nail holes? ALL FIXED. :)

Looking very nice, Wyatt. I trust that this will spend as much time at my house AFTER the restoration as it did BEFORE the restoration? :lol:

Top job you're doing there Wyatt. It is really turning out to be a beautiful machine.

Regarding the grille- do you have any of those artsy craftsy Sunday markets out your way? (not the antique/secondhand type markets)
Sometimes you'll come across old retired gents selling wood carvings etc, who would probably be interested in this type of one-off job.
I've had lead-light repairs & wood turnings done by stall owners before & found them more interested (& cheaper) than mainstream furniture restorers.

Great work Wyatt. I, like John would like to see the inside. Also looking for that youtube video showing it completed, with the grillwork you are struggling to find a craftsman for.
