Dictaphone? Never seen a similar one. Has both recording and reproducing stilii. Am really interested to find out what it is?

Yes, it is some kind dictation head. No domestic Edison machine had anything like that.

Looks like the recorder/Reproducer from about 1936 Edison Pro-Technic Ediphone They work very well, have thick, responsive gaskets and sensitive diaphragm, they are more for recording than playback, the playback stylus is rigid, It also has an advance ball.
