I was thinking of a comical record (possibly Jones and Hare) where the recording begins with distortion and wavering in the music then stops abruptly with the vocalist asking, "Did you remember to change the needle?" Laughter ensues and the same music begins again sounding clean and clear with a comical song.
It's a very clever trick that appeals to record and machine collectors alike. Unfortunately I do not remember the song. I'm thinking it was Jones and Hare - maybe on Perfect / Pathé Actulle but I could be wrong. I should still have the record in my collection but that's quite a few records to search through without more information.
Is anyone familiar with this recording?
