Need Help Identifying 2 Tone Arms

Post by mattrx »

I have had these two tone arms for quite a while. They came with some other parts I got from a forum member, but I am having trouble identifying them. I think one came from a VV-VI as the dimensions are similar to my early (flat crank, no overhang support) VV-VI tone arm. The other is smaller than my VV-VI tone arm by about ½ inch and longer than the one on my Vic I. I think it might be from a VV-IV, but not sure. Any help is appreciated. I don't like having things in my parts bin that I do not know what they fit.

The shorter one appears to be a Victrola IV or, depending on the length, could be for a Victor II. Jerry

Thanks Jerry, there is a small point on top of the shorter tone arm that MAY have been where the reproducer rested which would suggest Victrola. The longer one definitely has a mark in the same spot and most likely came from an internal horn machine. The shorter one, just not sure. What would be the length of the tone arm on a Victor II? I have a Vic I and a larger machine (Vic V), but not a II.

Yes, it's probably a Victrola IV arm. The arm on my Vic II is 6" from the pivot point to the center of the U-tube screw. Jerry

Jerry, thanks for the information. The shorter arm is exactly 6 inches from the pivot point to the center of the U-Tube screw. Was a Vic II arm used on any early VV's? I remember reading that certain early VV's used the same tone arm as their external horn cousins.
