"Made in USA" markings on Blue Amberols question

I'd never noticed the "Made in USA" stamped on any Blue Amberol cylinders before. Were these marked for export, perhaps? Thanks!

I don't have a good answer and I don't see anything in Dethlefson either. I did notice that this cylinder dates from late 1921, and there are a few titles on the first paper Diamond Disc label (with white letters on a black background), which come from the same time period, that are also marked "Made in U.S.A".

As you noted, there was probably some intention of doing this for export purposes, but it was very short lived. "Made in U.S.A." didn't show up on Diamond Discs again until mid-1926.

Interesting find. I'll have to check all my Blue Amberols for that one!
