Interesting, yet very plain jane looking machine currently on EBay. Wood looks too light to be the original finish?

The framed dark area around the Mozart transfer is the proof of the refinished cabinet. The entire cabinet was once the finish and color of the framed area around the decal. Jerry

looks like red gum- with the right finish it can resemble mahogany.

I don't think I've ever seen gum used as furniture wood...

That B-19 is attractive. Other examples I've seen have a thick red mahogany finish.

Red Gum was promoted in the early 20th C. as a wood for interior paneling. It was widely used for furniture that was going to get a painted finish- quite a few fancy decorated organ consoles are gumwood under the gilding.

What type of wood was used on a Victor O? Jerry

The square box around the makers mark on the inside of the lid "nameplate Mozart" is actually raised aprox. 1/16 of an inch which tells me this may be a separate piece of wood glued on and it was made this way ??

Jerry had asked what sort of wood was used in a Victor O. If Victor O is the same model as Vic O, then mine is maple stained to look something like mahogany. Three boards are used on the bottom platform, and the deck is composed of two boards.
