Question, Edison B-375 Louis XV, mute ball.

Post by 78monarch »

For a while ago, I bought a Edison B-375. But the mute ball was missing. Only the operating lever and the arm was still there. For a couple of days ago i got a new complete mute ball that I buy on eBay.
My question is. Is there a difference models of mute ball to the Edison disc machine? The ball i received seems not to support my machine.
Is there anyone who can tell me.

Thanks
Ernst :)

The one you have is probably out of a machine with the smaller horn. I've usually seen the green covered mute balls with the earlier machines. I have an A-275 and it has the green covered mute ball with it. It also has the bedplate with the pinstripes and ornate corner decals.

As luck would have it, I recently used a donor Diamond Disc motor to replace parts in 2 other machines to get them working properly. In doing so, I wound up with 1 spare mute ball and a second mute ball needing reinstallation in an otherwise complete machine. I'm attaching pics of both so you can see that there are indeed at least 2 sizes of mute ball for these machines.

Yes, As mentioned above, Small horned machines used a smaller mute ball horn. I suggest contacting George Vollema. He'll definitely have one for you.
