No one would, and it seems obvious to me from the outrageous sum that the seller really doesn't expect them to either. I looked at the seller's sales history and saw that he has sold some phonograph-related stuff in the past. He is probably a legitimate collector and might be annoyed that some first time buyers would be fooled by the purveyors of crap. His altruistic eBay listing does a public service by showing some clues to look for. These Crapophone alert postings are popping up all of a sudden in response to this most recent sale on eBay:

The reasoning is that since these people don't know how to do research the information is being delivered right to them when they search on eBay.
