Life is Grand...Grafonola Grand that is

Let me start out by telling all forum members how pleased I am by the work done by the pros at Restoration Station in Oklahoma City.

Over a year ago I came across the carcass of a Grafonola Grand, legless, veneer damage, missing door..

Due to the unusual walnut finish, I thought it was worth trying to restore. A member of this forum provided me with a project machine to use as a pattern for the legs, but it looked pretty decent so I wanted to get it fixed up too. (sorry the pictures are not the greatest, my phonograph room is not brightly lit).

It took a while, the Restoration Station was busy restoring tornado damaged furniture, but the results were worth waiting for.

answer to first question-yes- electric motor

answer to second question, I bought a second machine that had legs, initially just so the Restoration Station experts could use them as a pattern. When I saw the 2nd machine, I thought it was also worthy of restoration, so they did that too. my only contribution was paying for the work.

How was the motor? Did you have to do much in that department?

I just got them back and have not tested the motors yet. I'm sure that will be the next part of the saga
