Having a heck of a time locating a spindle for a 2 spring Victrola motor from a Vic III. Mine is bent. The bracket that bolts on to the bedplate that holds the end of the spindle also broke. Don't know how that happened, but I found a bracket, still need the spindle. Attached are a couple pictures showing the motor and spindle.
Thanks! Cliff

Re: WANTED: Spindle for Victrola 2 Spring Motor FOUND!
I figured I could just drill a new hole for the turntable pin in my spindle. But first, I thought I would see if I could straighten out the bent spindle with my hammer. It worked! But, there were other problems. This motor came with a homemade spindle set screw for the spindle base. I thought I would replace that with a genuine spindle screw. Looked good, but it didn't work. Apparently, the spindle that came with this motor wasn't the original and the worm gear on the shaft did not extend far enough up the shaft to catch the drive gear on the spring barrel. Almost, but not quite. The drive gear teeth would clunk on the part of the shaft without the spiral. Pretty scary effect produced by that on the first wind up. I think that is how the spindle got bent in the first place. So, I took out the new original screw I put in and replaced it with the homemade screw that came with it. It extended farther up the spindle bracket base and I pushed the spindle up high enough to catch all the drive gear teeth. After that, it ran smoothly. What a pain! You can see the result on YouTube here:gramophone78 wrote:You mean you found your own spindle you had on Ebay.......

WHEW!
The attached picture shows the condition when I got it.

P.S. - I was offered a replacement spindle for $125. That was what inspired me to bring out the hammer...
P.S.A. - The worm spiral on my spindle extends up about 3/16" farther than the one on this machine, enough for the drive gear to catch as it should have. It probably would have worked better.
