Identification of this Edison

Hello! I'm trying to identify this phonograph. I know nothing about these, but my sister recently got it from a friend (they didn't know anything about it either). I've tried some image searches and similar phonographs came up, but none matching hers. The only markings I could find on it is a sticker saying "Edison No. 18 Form 2430," which seems to be the factory where the cabinet was made, but no information on dates. The instruction manual seems very old, but I can't tell if it's authentic. It seems to spin fine, we're very excited to find a diamond disc to try to play!

Does anyone have any knowledge on about this phonograph or can point me in a direction so I can research it myself?

It's a "London upright" model LU-37 Diamond Disc, named after New London, WI where the cabinets were made. This is considered a low-end model made when Edison started using cheaper materials and cutting costs. It was made from 1922-1927 and is considered to be very common.

Having said that, if it's running, you can get a lot of enjoyment out of this machine. There is a lot of good information on this board and even more in a book called "Edison Disc Phonographs and the Diamond Discs" by George Frow.

Thank you both so much! We appreciate the disc offer but I think my sister found someone local that has a bunch he's getting rid of. Can't wait to try it out.

Evan, in case you might not already know, make sure the records you get for it are the thick Edison Diamond Disk records. Don't try to play regular 78s or modern LPs on it. You would ruin them.
