unknown part on vv 4-3

Post by mikem »

wife and I purchased phonograph as we like old décor. on top right corner is hole where needle cup goes then just below is a smaller black square little cup with 2 flexible prongs sticking out 1 side. what is it for? ( the crank stem seems too thick to be slid under the prongs ) thank you , mike.... plus and ideas where to get cheap needle cup ( 1 ½ inch wide circle plus about ½ inch deep) or something else to improvise as our needle cup missing.

Your two prong holder is for a tungs-tone needle tin. I would not recommend using it though. The prongs will scratch the tins face and therefore ruin it. You are welcome to place a wanted ad in our Yankee Trader section for your missing needle cup. Should be very easy to get.
