I just greased the mainspring on the Columbia Q, now my mainspring cover will not go on completely. Does anyone know the trick to getting these on?
Any help appreciated.

Have you tried it in various positions? I usually mark the cover and the barrel to make sure it goes on the same way. Sometimes they are out of round a bit and this makes sure you can fit it back on the way it was. Try various positons or even squeezing it in a vise.

Thanks to everyone for there help. I just moved the plate around and tapped all the way around a little at a time and the lid went in place perfectly.
Now the mainspring has been lubed.
