Edison Standard, Ediphone 400 78s, etc For Sale

Post by ollie »

Ok- not sure what was going on with craigslist- that other link worked for me every time I tried it. I logged myself off craigslist and it still worked.

Anyway- here are the couple pics of the machines-
Edison Standard: run well, clean, glue loose in two corners surrounding chassis and thin strip at base loose $400 obo

Ediphone dictaphone: (sorry didn't get a pic) motor runs, has "speaks/repeats" clip on control, needs cleaning, paint/nickle plate and bell- or good parts machine $20 or free if you buy the standard and want it.

Carryola portable- exterior probably had cloth at one point- now bare/stained wood. Neat looking, with a flapper on the badge. Spring jumps. Reproducer not og to it (will look for the old one- was metal fatigued) $75 obo

Slim green portable: runs well, case scruffy. Speed lever has "vento"..Italian? $40 obo

over 400 78s (403 if I counted right) Mix of pretty much everything- early 1900s to 1950s - majority 1920s-40s. Majority in period sleeves, condition varies $200 for all.

I drive between Cumberland, MD and Williamsburg, VA weekly, so can deliver any of it along that route or you can pick up in Williamsburg or Cumberland.
Paypal would be best, but cash/check/mo ok, too. Now hopefully the link works (stuck with my webcam since my digital died)

the link you provided is not for a craigslist listing, but a log in page. you might want to correct that, or else post photos here.

you reposted the same link.

either go to the craigslist listing and copy/paste the url, or else post photos here, otherwise it shouldn't be surprising that no one seems interested because he/she would have no way to tell what you've got.

I can't get any different url off the craigslist post than what I had- so pics are on photobucket - link in first post and below again. Sorry for all the confusion.

Ollie,

If you can provide the item number and which branch of Craiglist (e.g., if I were to post something it would be on the Boston Craigslist), I can get the URL for you.

I am including the images inline below (which can be done with the ‘IMG code’ on Photobucket), for the convenience of anyone interested.

Hope this helps.

posting number is 1268296864 and it is posted on the Hampton Roads, Virginia branch of Craigslist. Title is "400+ 78rpm records and Edison Standard." Just go by the prices in this thread, though.

Thanks for putting those up! - I was having trouble getting the [img] brackets to work for me.

Ollie,

First of all, the actual Craigslist URL is:

http://norfolk.craigslist.org/clt/1268296864.html

(Thanks to you giving me the title and the item number, it was very easy to find via Google.)

You’re very welcome. Basically, you can copy/paste the ‘IMG code’ straight from Photobucket, or you can paste the image URL into your message on this forum, highlight it, then click ‘Img’, which will put [img] in front of it, and [/img] after it. (I actually tend to type out the [img] tags myself, most of the time, which works also. Or you could use an add-on for Firefox, like BBCode.)

To use the first image below as an example:

Code: Select all

As with most things involving computers, there are multiple ways of doing things—go with whichever works best for you. :D

400+ 78rpm records and Edison Standard (Williamsburg, VA)

First: 400 78rpm records from the 1900s to 1950s. They are a mix- big band, vocals, novelty, country-western, etc. Crosby, Paul Whiteman, Ink Spots, Les Brown, Gene Autry, etc. etc. Most are in sleeves- originals and some new paper ones. $175 for all.

Second: an Edison Standard machine, clean and running. Plays, but either I have not had any decent-enough cylinders or it needs a new stylus. Has a very banged up, but original, witch's hat horn. Sorry, no cylinders. Comes with some advertising stuff- a diamond disc catalog and another Edison pamphlet, as well as an electric Ediphone dictaphone $400 for all.

I also have a 1930s Carryola portable player ($100) and a small green one (Italian? has Vento on speed control) $50 both run. Carryola may need spring grease or spring (jumps).

Would also be interested in trading any of the above for a decent used digital camera. 6-10 megapixel (esp. with a good macro function). Thanks!

Pick up in Williamsburg, or can deliver the records or cylinder machines in the Richmond to Norfolk area for another $10.
