Well, if Ted Lewis was around in 1976 and played the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the San Diego Symphony at SDSU, you may have something there. Not!

So, Marcapra, what is your answer to this burning question - or did I miss something?

The hint about the Mozart clarinet concerto was the tipoff for me. I looked in my Rust books and found the reference to the session cited. The group was composed of members of the Ben Pollack band. Benny was classically trained and as early as the 1930s after he became famous with his band he appeared in classical concerts and recorded with classical groups.
