Are there any people out there who is willing to sell a Columbia Graphophone Type AB ("MacDonald") to South Korea?
I am looking for this particular machine for the sake of my friend's request (a serious scholar/collector) who is looking for the machine for the archival purpose. He is collecting all of the early phonographs that had appeared on Korean newspapers at the turn of the century, and this particular machine, which is one of the earliest machine to be featured on a newspaper advertisement.
As long as the machine is functioning well (enough to play a 2-minute cylinder), it wouldn't matter if the machine is not in the best cosmetic condition. If the concert-sized mandrel is included, it will be even more appreciated, although it's not mandatory.
Please PM me or send me an email on [email protected], if you are interested, thank you.
Attached is the scan of the illustration included from a Korean newspaper from 1907, showing Columbia Graphophone Type AB. The Korean description says, "A Machine that Talks".
