Cheez Whiz! Only 2 bids, and it's over $12,000......
(Are those bids genuine, though?)

Could well be. Remember that Paramount that sold for $37,100?Lucius1958 wrote:Cheez Whiz! Only 2 bids, and it's over $12,000......![]()

Rare records are well beyond my field of knowledge, but they are out there. I always wonder if there was something in some dollar bin in some thrift shop I turned my nose up at that was an unrecognized treasure.

Years ago I did find an Autograph record at the Salvation Army store in Binghamton,NY.It was of a women's chorus.Of course,I grabbed it.I would've done the same thing if it were a Black Patti.Even if it was cracked or had a chip out of it.edisonplayer

Me too. My understanding is that ANY Black Patti is rare and desirable, and if the condition is as good as the one offered, it's the grand prize!edisonplayer wrote:I would've done the same thing if it were a Black Patti.Even if it was cracked or had a chip out of it.edisonplayer

I think I saw a paper Black Patti sleeve sell for around a grand on eBay in the last year.

Black Patti records are very rare, and also desirable for their content. The only examples I have personally seen and heard are in the collection of Joe Bussard - worthy of any museum.

Re: Might Want to Keep Your Eye on This Black Patti
A little searching yields sales of for this label from worn, cracked, and bites at $200 and better conditions to $4500.
The Black Patti disc noted is the second release (8002)
I came across this ebay auction result.
I've bolded the key points.
GENNETT 6122 - Sold for $7656
eBay 2014-07-13
DADDY MOON HAYES AND THE BOYS
TWO LITTLE TOMMIE BLUES/GANG OF BROWN SKIN WOMEN
GENNETT 6122
"TWO LITTLE TOMMIES" WAS RECORDED AT AN APRIL 3rd, 1927 SESSION AT THE CHICAGO RECORD COMPANY FOR RELEASE ON BLACK PATTI RECORDS. "GANG OF BLACK SKIN WOMEN" WAS RECORDED AT THE SAME SESSION. GENNETT, AS A SILENT PARTNER OF BLACK PATTI, HAD AN AGREEMENT TO RELEASE THIS MATERIAL ON THEIR OWN LABEL. "TWO LITTLE TOMMIES" WAS RELEASED ON THE FIRST BLACK PATTI DISC (8001) UNDER THE NAMES OF LONG 'CLEVE' REED AND LITTLE HARVEY HULL (THE DOWN HOME BOYS). SUNNY WILSON IS THE SECOND GUITAR. "GANG OF BLACK SKIN WOMEN" WAS ON THE SECOND BLACK PATTI RELEASE UNDER HARVEY HULL'S NAME. THESE MUSICIANS ARE BELIEVED TO BE FROM HOUSTON, TX.
THE RECORD SOUNDS GREAT. BLUES WITH TWO VOICES HARMONIZING, SOME SCAT LYRICS. A DYNAMITE RECORDING IN VG CONDITION, SOME SHINE
