I bought this 12" diameter, double-sided Harmony Record a few years ago at a flea market in Illinois. Of all the Chicago odd-spindle sized records, I've seen 12" Busy-Bee-Records and Aretino Records, but this is the only example of a 12" Harmony Record I've ever encountered. I don't remember ever seeing 12" examples of other Chicago, odd-spindle sized records like the Standard Disc Record, Consolidated Record, or Diamond Record.
Along with pictures of each label from this 12" disc, I've included a picture of the 12" disc next to a common 10" one for comparison. I love coming across things I've never seen before!
Enjoy,
Bob

That's awesome. I never saw anything like this before. Great find.

Re: Harmony Record --- 12" Double-sided
The Columbia master books list the 12inch "client labels", and it's a pretty short list, compared to the 10inch numbers. They list only one double-faced, 12" Harmony (A5219) sourced from Columbia masters, but this isn't it!
However, this apparently IS from Columbia masters, as it matches Columbia A5572 with the same titles on each side. Can you see any matrix numbers? They following is from the Columbia Master Book, Vol IV:
Joan Sawyer's Persian Garden Orchestra - (NOTE: According to the co-author's research, this was a Black orchestra--one of the first to record-- led by Clef Club President Dan Kildare and employed by white dancer Joan Sawyer. See Howard Rye & Tim Brooks, STORYVILLE 1996/97, pp 31-57 )
36951-1 Joan Waltz - Hesitation (Joan Sawyer) May 5, 1914 issued on A5572
36953-a Bregeiro - Maxixe (B.E.Nazareth) May 6, 1914 issued on A5572

Re: Harmony Record --- 12" Double-sided
Hi Edisone,
Thanks for the very useful, additional information --- neat to know my disc is undocumented! It makes me wonder how many other unknowns will come to light in the future!
In my original post, I should have stated the matrix number info more clearly rather than just including it in the names I assigned to the files of the photos I attached (see file names below each photo in the original post). Yes, one side of Harmony Record 5572 (Bregeiro - Maxixe) does show matrix number 36953 in the wax (which I assumed was from Columbia masters). Unfortunately, no matrix numbers are visible for the Joan - Hesitation Waltz side.
I, and I assume others, would really like to know what else is on that "pretty short list" of the 12inch Columbia client labels --- any chance of providing clear scans of this info?
Thank you once again for your valuable input,
Bob
