Very late Edison lateral (needle cut) and Diamond Disc

Post by Phototone »

I have noticed that quite a few of my very latest Diamond Disc electric recordings are short, that is, not taking advantage of the total recording time available on the Diamond Disc format. Maybe this information is available somewhere, but I can't find it. I wonder if, when Edison started recording and issuing "needle cut" 78's, if they simultaneously recorded a Diamond Disc master, and were restricted to the recording time available for the "needle cut" 78's?
