I have used Go Jo from the auto store and it came in a orange squeeze bottle. Not sure if I got the right thing as I was not impressed. Murphy's oil and some 4/0 steelwool did a much better job and quicker.

Williamsville spray wood cleaner from Antique Phonograph Supply Co does a nice job of cleaning and lifting crud from the grain but it's 10 bucks a can..

The orange squeeze bottle stuff is great for cleaning your hands after you make repairs but I've never tried using it for cleaning phonographs.

The GoJo or Goop that you want is white, in a white tub, and does not contain pumice. Your local Harbour Freight carries small and large tubs of Goop (very similar to GoJo). See attached pic of large tub.

The GOJO that I purchase definitely does not have any abrasive in it. I'll try the Goop at some point.
