But I can't show it. I will get chastised. Hexaphone 103 in good working order. At least when I found out how to raise the lid. I got to show it anyway but I can't load it up with pink cylinders.

I know that feeling Pete. I have wanted one for 20 years but couldn't afford it. I am downsizing my collection to about 15 or 20 special machines.flashpanblue wrote:Hi Ronnie,

Re: I GOT A NEW MACHINE
I hafta settle for a Fireside w Cygnet and a tin cup for nickels. hehe
Confused: Is the New Machine the Hexaphone, or something else? And why would you be chastised for showing either? We certainly won't chastise you !
ps - Saw my first Hex at the Deansboro Musical Museum, prolly in 1975 or 1976 ... That was a wonderful, all-day visit, and most everything was in fine working order. I returned in 1977, and all was well - but a visit around 1992-4 revealed a lack of care and tuning, so was much less impressive. Of course it's all gone now.

A Hexaphone 103 only plays 4 minute cylinders, so why would you fill it with Pink Lamberts that can't be played on it? It's a beautiful machine, congratulations.Amberola wrote:I can't load it up with pink cylinders.

Congrats Ronnie, that machine looks great!
Have you darkened it yet? because in that picture it looks pretty good the way it is.
I would've loaded it with pink cylinders out of spite.

Re: I GOT A NEW MACHINE
Spite? That's silly. It's his machine and he can do what he wants with it. That said, I would want an important machine like that to be historically accurate. To me, that's like putting an Elvis LP on my Credenza to demonstrate it to visitors.
