A short while ago this or something identical was sold on "Live Auctioneers". As I recall it sold for a couple hundred bucks. At that time it was full of cylinder records

no cylinder cabinet would have those finials hanging down for no purpose.

Decoration. The same reason that it would be included on a dresser of that time period.
