John,

I know some people who could ‘arrange’ for you to lose a wall or two to accommodate another machine or two—all you have to do is provide the sledgehammer(s) required for that bit of home-surgery. ;)

Your study could be extended into the kitchen, right? :D

D.,

Yeah, right down to the cellar! My "study" is in the first addition and the kitchen in in the original part of the house. Then I'd have plenty of room! I'd be singing Build a Little Home from Roman Scandals!

Listening to the Victrola fifteen minutes a day will alter and brighten your whole life.

Just think, if you split your home in half, not only could you live in a dollhouse, but you could also have that much more space (e.g. all that empty space outside) to store more phonographs. ;)

It’s a win-win situation—until you freeze from the drafts...or the ice and snow damage your machines! :D

Oddly when I think of a phonograph as being hard to place it is often a Upright that I have the most trouble with.. I view the console as a focal point piece of furniture and with a nice picture over it and if room allows a lamp on top it can be quite attractive and look like it belongs. I have a harder time fitting the upright in most of the time. Although at the moment most of my machines are uprights, maybe that is why so many are lined up in the basement at moms next door?
I know from the photos I see that many are happy with wall to wall machines, but I much prefer them to take on a look of belonging, and in their day you would most likely always found one per home, let alone room.
